Overview
This Privacy Policy explains how Lodestar Digital ("we", "us") collects, uses, and protects information when you visit lodestardigital.co or contact us. It covers what we collect, the outside services involved, and the choices you have.
Information we collect
What you send us. When you submit our contact or audit form, we collect the details you provide, such as your name, email, company, and message.
Site analytics. When you browse the site, Google Analytics records standard usage data: pages viewed, approximate location, device and browser type, and how you arrived. Cloudflare Web Analytics also counts page views and page speed. It does not use cookies and does not identify you. We use both in aggregate to understand and improve the site.
Click and scroll heatmaps. Our own tool, Lodestar Pulse, records where visitors click and how far they scroll on each page, along with the type of device (phone, tablet, or desktop). It does not use cookies, does not store your IP address, and never records anything you type or anything inside a form. Clicks from one visit are grouped by a random number that disappears when you close the tab. We keep this data for about 13 months, then delete it automatically.
Visitor identification. We use a website visitor identification service. A small piece of code on our pages records visit signals, such as the pages you view, the time of your visit, browser and device details, and identifiers stored in cookies or similar technology. The service and its identity partners, including LiveIntent, compare those signals with identity data they maintain under their own privacy policies. When there is a confident match, the service may give us a name, business name, email address, or other contact details for that visitor. Many visitors are never identified.
How we use information
- To answer your inquiry and provide the services or audit you requested.
- To understand how the site is used and improve our content and performance.
- To learn which businesses and people are interested in our services and, in some cases, to contact them about those services.
We do not sell the information you type into our forms. Some state privacy laws may treat the visitor identification described above as "selling" or "sharing" personal information. You can opt out at any time; see "Your choices" below.
Cookies and similar technology
Google Analytics sets cookies to measure site usage. Our visitor identification service and LiveIntent set their own cookies and may load a hidden frame from their own websites to match identifiers across sites. Cloudflare Web Analytics does not set cookies. Blocking or clearing cookies does not affect your ability to use this site. Lodestar Pulse, our heatmap tool, does not set cookies.
Who we share information with
We share information only with companies that help us run the site and our business, and only as needed:
- Cloudflare, which hosts the site and our heatmap tool, and provides Web Analytics.
- Google, for Google Analytics.
- Formspree, which delivers our contact and audit forms to us.
- Our visitor identification provider and its identity partners, including LiveIntent.
We may also disclose information if required by law.
Your choices
- Opt out of visitor identification: use LiveIntent's opt-out page, block third-party cookies in your browser, or email us and we will ask our providers to stop identifying you and delete what they returned to us.
- Opt out of Google Analytics: use the browser add-on and settings Google provides.
- Heatmaps: Lodestar Pulse automatically skips visitors whose browser sends Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control.
- Access, correction, or deletion: email us to see, correct, or delete the personal information we hold about you, including contact details a visitor identification match gave us.
- Emails from us: unsubscribe at any time using the link in any message.
